Professional tree pruning and crown care

Tree pruning and trimming keeps your trees healthy, balanced and safe. Crown Care carries out selective pruning to remove dead, damaged or rubbing branches, improve structure, and reduce weight where it matters — without stripping the tree or leaving obvious "lollipop" cuts.

We work with ornamental trees, mature specimens and fruit trees, tailoring the approach to species, season and what you want from the garden: more light, clearance over paths and roofs, or better fruiting wood on apples and pears.

Cuts are made in the right place for callus and long-term health. We can thin crowded crowns, raise low branches for access, or reduce specific limbs that overhang boundaries — always with a clear plan before we start.

Arisings are chipped or removed as agreed so patios and lawns are left tidy. If you are unsure whether you need pruning or a full crown reduction, we will advise honestly on the best option.

Why homeowners choose us

Good pruning is about timing, technique and restraint. We prune to sound arboricultural practice so your trees stay strong and your property stays protected.

Professional & accountable

We agree the scope with you first — what to remove, what to leave, and how the tree should look when we are done. No surprises on the day.

Clean, precise cuts

Branches are removed with correct cut placement to support healing and reduce decay entry points — especially important on mature or valuable trees.

Safe working around your home

Overhanging roofs, glass and public paths need a controlled approach from the ground or aloft. We work carefully to protect what is underneath.

Health & longevity

Pruning is balanced with the tree's vigour and species: we avoid over-pruning that stresses trees or triggers weak, whippy regrowth.

When does a tree need pruning?

Typical reasons include deadwood that could fall, branches rubbing together, limbs growing toward buildings or cables, or a crown that blocks light into the house or lawn. Fruit trees often need seasonal pruning to maintain an open, productive frame.

If a tree is protected by a TPO or sits in a conservation area, pruning may still require local authority consent depending on what is proposed. We can carry out work that matches an approved specification — you remain responsible for permission where it applies.

Pruning vs crown reduction

Pruning usually means selective removal of branches to improve health and safety while keeping the overall size of the tree much the same. Crown reduction is a separate technique used when the whole canopy needs to be made smaller — for example when a tree has outgrown its space.

Had our apple trees pruned properly after years of neglect. Crown Care clearly knew their fruit trees and the garden was left immaculate. Very pleased.
