Hedge Cutting & Maintenance
Crisp lines, healthy regrowth and boundaries you are proud of — hedge cutting and shaping across Essex, London and Kent.

Overgrown hedges shade patios, swallow flower beds and argue with the neighbour over height. Crown Care cuts and shapes hedges of all sizes — from tight box and yew to long laurel and conifer runs — so your boundaries look intentional, not abandoned.
We work to the outline you want: formal flat tops and vertical faces, gentle curves, or natural informal screens. Where a hedge has been neglected, we may recommend a phased cut over two seasons so it greens back without bare patches — we will be honest if a hard chop would ruin the screen.
Clippings are cleared from lawns and paths as we go and removed from site as quoted, so you are not left with barrowloads of prunings. We take care near glass, fencing and painted walls, and can coordinate access along shared drives or alleyways when needed.
Regular maintenance keeps hedges manageable and cheaper over time than letting them grow out and then needing a heavy reduction. Ask about repeat visits if you want the same tidy finish year after year.

Why homeowners choose us
Good hedge work shows in the line — and in what is left behind. We cut methodically, clear as we go, and match the finish to how you use the garden.
Professional & accountable
We agree the height, width and shape with you first — especially on shared boundaries — so everyone knows what "done" looks like before the first cut.
Straight runs & level tops
Long boundary hedges need a steady eye. We work for even faces and level crowns where a formal look is the goal.
Clean cuts, right place
Correct trimming encourages dense growth and avoids die-back on sensitive species — we adjust technique for conifers, beech, privet and more.
Clippings cleared
Arisings are raked up and taken away as quoted — no half-finished job with mulch tracked through the house.
When does a hedge need cutting?
Typical reasons include loss of light into the house, encroachment over paths or parking, overhang into a neighbour's garden, or simply restoring a neat boundary before summer. Evergreen hedges are often trimmed once or twice a season; fast growers may need more frequent visits.
If a hedge is protected — for example part of a conservation area condition or a formal agreement with a neighbour — work may need to match an agreed specification. We can carry out cutting that fits approved plans once you have clarity from the council or your neighbour.
Reduction vs regular trim
A light maintenance trim keeps an existing shape. A reduction brings height or width down significantly and may expose bare wood temporarily on some species — we will warn you if that is likely and suggest timing.
If you are not sure what is realistic, send photos or book a visit and we will recommend the gentlest approach that still solves the problem.
How we work
Enquiry & free quote
Call, WhatsApp or use our form. Photos and rough lengths help; long runs or awkward access often need a quick site look.
Clear scope & price
Your quote sets out what is included — cut height, shaping, waste off-site, and any access notes — plus when we can attend.
Cutting on site
We work systematically along the hedge, clearing clippings so lawns and paving stay usable and neighbours are minimally disturbed.
Tidy handover
We walk the line with you, sweep up stragglers, and leave boundaries ready for the season ahead.
“Had three hedges cut and shaped last summer. Brilliant job, punctual, and left the garden spotless. Already booked them for this year.”
